# Versions

> Every save is a version. Diff, restore, audit.

Cairn writes a new version row on every save, and never overwrites. That gives you a full audit trail and lossless rollback.

## Version history

Open the version history sidebar in any script editor to see:

* Author and timestamp.
* A side-by-side diff against the previous version.
* A "Restore" button that creates a new version with the older content.

## What's stored per version

* The script's full source at that save (JS and CSS scripts each keep their own history).
* The user who saved it, and when.

## Rolling back

Restoring an old version writes a new `script_version` row. The original version stays in history. Cairn never destroys content.
